The article is called "Boring Our Members to Death" and was written by Christopher Hodapp, 32°.

This article exemplifies the very discussions of which the members of this site (OGM). Travelingman and I (OLDDOGG) were actually excited (in a bizzar way) about the article in the Scottish Rite Journal. It was a way of letting us know, that "we" are not the only ones whom know and see the same things happening with in our local lodges. It's happening everywhere! We thought we knew this, but the Brother Hadapp's article confirms it for us.

Online Gaming Masons was formed last year in order to bring brothers and potential brothers together in fellowship. Online Gaming is a rising popular activity among both the young and not-so young people of the world. It is our goal to provide a club for like minded people who enjoy the fellowship but can do with out the boring dinners and lodge meetings with bothers whom are only interested in your attendance for numbers sake instead of one's company.

Both Travelingman and myself had experienced the same thing from our own local lodges. We had not shown up for lodge in months (if not longer), and upon our entrance into the lodge after being gone for so long, the first words spoken were, "Hey will you fill in a seat." When we responded with not tonight, I'm just trying to get some fellowship tonight, we are left standing there alone. No one every walked up to shake our hand and welcome us for being ourself. They were only interested in us as numbers to fill seats and keeping the line alive.

When we have attempted to provide our ideas in lodge to help improve membership, we are met with resisitance and the old saying we are all familiar with: "...that's not how we have done things..." or "...that's not how things were done when my father was a live."

Gentlemen, it is the year 2007 not 1950. The sixties may have hurt the masonic memberships, but the members in their sixties and older may just be killing it.

-Jesse R.
